Why our 13,000 sq ft house is too small, say David and Victoria Beckham

Power couple David and Victoria Beckham are said to be selling their mansion in LA because it is too small. The £24 million property is 13,000 sq ft, which is five times the size of the average home in the US.

However, the Beckhams, who bought the house nearly a decade ago are understood to be sellling up so they can find a house with bigger grounds where their sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz will have more room to play football. Clearly, they have inherited their father’s love of the game.

A source close to the couple said they had been feeling concerned about the size of their house for some time. The source said that the boys usually went round to Gordon Ramsay or Elton John’s house if they wanted a kickabout because they have bigger gardens.

The couple are also understood to want a home with greater privacy because the private driveway they have now is small. It is believed that the house has been on the market for a while, but they are now reported to have found a buyer in the shape of Arsenal shareholder Stan Kroenke. Because of his interest, they have stepped up their property search for something which better meets their needs.

Victoria and David will certainly have the means to purchase the house of their dreams given they have made a fortune as a result of their fashion and sporting prowess. The first house they bought in 1996 was for £150,000 and they have steadily climbed the property ladder until they were able to purchase a £24 million pound mansion. They have also owned a large home in Hertfordshire which was dubbed Beckingham Palace by the media. Their next property move remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: It will have a large garden.
