Moscow pullout forces Johanna Konta out of WTA Finals in Singapore

Singapore rankings remain out of reach for Konta as she failed to get past Caroline Garcia after her milestone victories in Beijing and Wuhan. She is now down 185 points rival Garcia after Moscow pullout.

An appalling retrogression in form for Konta who had been phenomenal at the Miami Open and successfully getting to the Wimbledon semi-finals has finally cost her a much sort after spot at the Singapore WTA finals.

After Virginia Wade’s appearance in the WTA season finale in the year 1980, no other British woman has made an appearance ever since Konta looked set to break the duck, but luck ran out for her as her form crumbled.

The Singapore Hoodoo

After six tournaments the Brit has won only two matches, and now she has failed to qualify for the Singapore WTA Finals, another opportunity scuttled.

Out of five of those six tournaments leading up to Wimbledon, Johanna Konta crashed out in the first round in appalling fashion, an d now in two years, she has failed to reach the WTA finals in Singapore.

Konta who is currently the world No.10 came undone in the Kremlin Cup by Svetlana Kuznetsova in 2016, which scuttled her chance of competing in Singapore in that same year, unfortunately, Konta didn’t get the chance to exert her revenge on Garcia.

Konta can look to future tournaments to regain her respect, more training and preparation should be in top gear for her if she is to compete at the highest level.
