Katy Perry has got 25 million more reasons to smile as she has been handed a whopping $25 million to be a judge on American Idol.
The terms of the contract were revealed by an anonymous source who revealed that the pop star will be earning big bucks to be a judge on the rebooted American Idol singing contest.
It is reported that the show management at ABC was desperate to tie the singer down before announcing the show’s new season as she has all the qualities that are needed to boost the rating of the show and ensure that it gets all the attention that it needs.
It was reported in 2012 that the head honchos at American Idol wanted to get Katy Perry on the show but she rejected their $20 million offer and now it seems they’ve finally got their “girl”.
This comes after ABC lost out on Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson to NBC’S The Voice. So they really had to make a statement that they mean business this time around.
It is also reported that Ryan Seacrest might still host the show as talks are currently ongoing to get one of the most sought after host in America to get back the show to further boost its rating.
There are no words yet on the other hosts of the show like Jennifer Lopez who was earning about $15 million before the show was cancelled due to low rating at the time after more than 5 years.
Katty Perry will no doubt bring back some of the spice on the show and she has quite a huge social media presence which will help in improving the rating of the show and get it back to the top spot as one of the most watched music reality show in the United States.
