EU Business School Barcelona campuses will now offer Spanish instruction to its students.

EU Business School Barcelona has expanded its offerings in Spanish language education by signing a partnership agreement with the Escuelas de Lengua Española, Universidad de Salamanca (ELE USAL).

From the beginning of the 2017/18 academic year, students at EU Business School Barcelona will be able to take Spanish classes while earning credits from one of Spain’s most prestigious universities.

Since its foundation in 1973, EU Business School’s programs have been taught exclusively in English. During the signing with ELE USAL on June 22, 2017, EU Business School Vice President Carl Craen expressed delight with the steps they were taking into Spanish language education, stating that “this partnership reflects the globalized nature of the business world today and reflects the international nature of our busi¬ness school, we’re very proud to provide this offering to EU Barcelona students.”

Dating back to 1218, the Universidad de Salamanca is not only one of the most prestigious universities in Spain, but also one of the oldest in the world. It was the first university to offer Spanish language courses to foreigners (establishing its program in 1929) and is also responsible for developing the globally recognized DELE exam (Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera) for the Instituto Cervantes. Today, this partnership will allow for EU Business School Barcelona students to benefit from centuries of expertise in Spanish language education.

The continued importance and growth of international business served as one of the driving forces behind the move. With over 400 million speakers, Spanish is now the 2nd most spoken language in the world. The partnership with ELE USAL therefore provides a fantastic opportunity and huge benefit for EU Barcelona students looking to work in Spain or Latin America once they have graduated. María Landa Buil, director at ELE USAL Barcelona, spoke of her excitement at the collaboration: “we are number one in teaching Spanish as a foreign language and EU is also top in its field, so there are clear synergies between our two schools.”

In addition to the forthcoming Spanish classes, EU Business School also offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs which focus on the areas of business administration, international business, marketing, finance, and entrepreneurship among others. It is ranked among the top business schools in Europe and has also had the honor of being recognized by the Academy of Business in Society (ABIS) for its consistent dedication to corporate social responsibility.

The newly signed partnership agreement with ELE USAL represents a hugely significant addition to EU Business School’s network of institutional partners. Students are also able to participate in international exchange programs, and have the opportunity to earn state-accredited degrees on EU campuses from universities such as the University of Roehampton in London, the University of Derby in the U.K., and the Universidad Católica de Murcia in Spain.
